Learning Arabic in the Technology Revolution 4.0

UNJ Public Relations 06/03/2019 As part of the MOU with Qatar University, the Student Executive Board (BEM) Arabic Language Education Study Program held a public lecture with the theme “The Use of Electronics in Learning Arabic”. Dr. Abeer Salah El dim Riyadlh Haidar, a lecturer from Qatar University, was the speaker of this event. Located in the 8th-floor of Ki Hajar Dewantara Building, the event that was held on March 6, 2019, was also attended by lecturers and students of Arabic Language Education Undergraduate Study Programs.

In his presentation, Dr. Abeer Salah El dim Riyadlh Haidar expressed his curiosity about the Arabic teaching methods used by teaching staff in Indonesia and talked about the teaching methods he used based on the experience he had. He also shared modern teaching methods, which were in line with the development of the 4.0 technology revolution. “In Indonesia, traditional methods are still used in teaching the Arabic language. Students only listen, and the lecturer explains. However, Qatar University has used a different method, because all learning elements must move hand in hand,” he added. He even hoped that this public lecture could use a group method instead of the traditional listening method so that the participants could be more active in receiving knowledge.

Dr. Abeer Salah El dim Riyadlh Haidar hoped that the fun learning methods he delivered can be used by the participants. In the future, some students from the Arabic Language Education Study Program will be given the opportunity to study at Qatar University as part of the MoU.
