BEASISWA KEMITRAAN NEGARA BERKEMBANG (KNB SCHOLARSHIP)

Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang, popularly known as KNB Scholarship, is a prestigious scholarship program and financial assistance offered by the government of the Republic of Indonesia managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to prospective international students who are selected applicants originating from developing countries.

The role of the KNB Scholarship has been central in supporting Universitas Negeri Jakarta in its endeavour to achieve internationalization. In support of Universitas Negeri Jakarta’s internationalization and to accommodate the increasing interest from applicants worldwide, the KNB scholarships at Universitas Negeri Jakarta have been awarded since 2024 and are expected to grow continuously. The KNB scholarship is expected to sustain the quality improvement of Universitas Negeri Jakarta to meet the standards of an internationally reputable university.

2. To promote deeper cultural understanding and to strengthen the relationship between developing countries.
3. To strengthen the relationship and cooperation between developing countries.
4. To improve Universitas Negeri Jakarta’s research capacity towards a world-class university.

Study Programs

The scholarship at Universitas Negeri Jakarta is offered in the 2024 fiscal year to potential students from developing countries to get their Degrees (Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate) in a wide range of fields of study as follows

APPLICATION INFORMATION

Academic Year 2024/2025

Applications for the KNB Scholarship Year 2024/2025 begin on 22nd January 2024 for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Degrees.

Procedures

1. Download the KNB Scholarship Offering Letter from the KNB Scholarship website.
2. Submit the Invitation letter, Passport, Academic Certificates and Academic Transcripts to the Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate to acquire the recommendation letter. For more information about the address, phone number, e-mail or website of the Indonesian embassy in your country, you can check this link: https://kemlu.go.id/portal/en/kedutaan.
3. Complete the online application process.
4. Selection process

The Selection Results will be broadcast online through the KNB Scholarship Website and officially announced through the Indonesian Embassy publication network.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor Degree

1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 21 years old.
2. Hold a High School degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that a bachelor’s degree holder is not eligible to apply for the bachelor’s degree scholarship.
3. Have the English Proficiency Test Score minimum: TOEFL ITP of 477, TOEFL IBT of 53, IELTS of 5,5, TOEIC of 510 or equivalent (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries or participants from universities who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript) are not required to submit the English Proficiency document by attaching official proof from their home university.
4. Provide a recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General to apply for the KNB scholarship.
5. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English (if working)
6. Provide Academic Recommendation Letters from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
7. Prove citizenship by submitting an Official Passport, which is still valid for at least 2 years.
8. Complete the online application form at http://knb.kemdikbud.go.id

Master Degree

1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 35 years old.
2. Hold a bachelor’s degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that a master’s degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Master’s Degree scholarship.
3. Have the English Proficiency Test Score minimum as follows: TOEFL ITP of 500, TOEFL IBT of 61, IELTS of 6,0, TOEIC of 575 or equivalent (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries or participants from universities who are enrolled in programs in English (stated in participant diploma/transcript) are not required to submit the English Proficiency document by attaching official proof from their home university.
4. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
5. Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from The employer/immediate supervisor in English (if working)
6. Provide Academic Recommendation Letters from previous schools in English or Bahasa.

Doctoral Degree

1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.
2. Hold a master’s degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that a Doctorate holder is not eligible to apply.
3. Obtain a recommendation letter in English from the potential research supervisor in one of the universities providing partner of the KNB Scholarship.
4. Please provide a statement that at least states the purpose of their studies, the origin of their interests in studying in Indonesia and pursuing their chosen research topic and their plans for the academic future (dissertation proposal) in English or Bahasa.
5. Have the English Proficiency Test Score minimum as follows: TOEFL ITP of 530, TOEFL IBT of 71, IELTS of 6,0, TOEIC of 640 or equivalent (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years). Participants of foreign nationality who come from English-speaking countries or from universities enrolled in English programs (stated in participant diploma/transcript) are not required to submit the English Proficiency document by attaching official proof from their home university.
6. Provide a recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General to apply for the KNB scholarship.

Program Structure

1. Indonesian Language Training Program

A one-year Indonesian Language (Bahasa) course is compulsory for all KNB students as all courses required to complete the academic program (lecture and thesis) will be conducted in Bahasa. The Bahasa course will be provided by Universitas Negeri Jakarta.

2. Preparatory Program

Universitas Negeri Jakarta’s policy and program planning will arrange a preparatory program before the academic program.

3. Academic Program

The maximum length of scholarship disbursement:

1. Six semesters for the Doctorate Degree The scheme of the doctorate degree offered under the scholarship: Doctorate program by a combination of coursework and research. An extension of a maximum of 2 semesters can be granted on a case-by-case assessment of the candidate’s individual specific case.
2. Four semesters for Master’s Degree
3. Eight semesters for the Bachelor’s Degree

To successfully complete the program, it is essential for all KNB awardees to consistently produce excellent academic performance by developing a can-do attitude, staying focused and being punctual and disciplined.
