Flag Ceremony of the 74th Hero Day
Public Relations of UNJ (11/11/2019) – Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) held a flag ceremony to commemorate the 74th Hero Day on Monday, 10th November 2019 at 7:30 a.m. at Library yard of UNJ. The inspector of the ceremony was represented by Dr. Abdul Sukur, M.Si., the Vice Rector for Student Affairs. The ceremony solemnly held was attended by the board of Rectors, Deans, lecturers, students and all members of UNJ.
In this 74th Hero Day Flag Ceremony themed “I Am A Hero of Today”, we all recall to the most historical moment of the 10th November 1945 fight in Surabaya to grab the Indonesian independence back from the Dutch colonialism.
The war has reminded us that the independence we have now is not something easily and automatically reached; instead, it incredibly used to demand hard struggle and sacrifice of the heroes. The spirit the heroes shown in the struggle must be instilled and grown deep down inside by all of the Indonesian people.
By commemorating the Hero Day, we will more appreciate what our heroes have struggled and sacrificed for as quoted by our Founding Fathers, Bung Karno that “…only if does it appreciate what the heroes have struggled for, a nation can be great…”
The heroic spirit used to be expressed by such sacrifices as physic, wealth even life. But now, the sacrifice is expressed in a different way instead of using physical contact by weapons to get rid of the invaders. The sacrifice can indeed be visualized by making as much achievement as possible in a number of fields for the good of society and country in a global world.
Dr. Abdul Sukur, in his speech claimed that the Hero Day commemoration is supposed to increase our awareness more to love the country and to fight for it until the end. “Let us signify this hero day with a real action, working hard to develop the country heading to the advancement of Indonesia, Dr. Abdul Sukur added.
This Hero Day is not only meant to be ceremonial but also be filled with numerous activities to grow nationalism and to bring care for helping others. By making us as the Hero of Today, we can make a good solution for a lot of problems emerging in the country nowadays. Thus, let us keep fostering the heroic values inside to have it grow in the heart of the Indonesian people.
Happy Hero Day 2019, May Allah SWT, the Almighty God lead and strengthen the Indonesian nation so that we can maintain the sovereignty of NKRI for which has been struggled by our former heroes. So, be a hero of today who brings home pride for the country.
