In his remarks, the Ad interim Rector conveyed about the readiness of universities to face the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0. “We must prepare our students for jobs that do not yet exist but will emerge in the future. Higher education aims to produce prospective workers. Higher education is a conservative organization, not easily changed. But we must prepare our students to face the 4.0 industrial revolution,” he explained.

More on the era of industrial revolution 4.0, Prof. Intan delivered an explanation entitled Industrial Revolution 4.0 and STEAM: Empowering Higher Education for Preparing Future Generations. Prof. Intan explained how we could survive in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. “Quoting Charles Darwin, not the strongest or the smartest that will survive, but the ablest to adapt to change. The world of work requires a combination of skills provided by universities today. The education system in higher education must be evaluated and must reflect the 4.0 industrial revolution curriculum. Take UNJ for example. In the past semester, we have included coding courses as elective courses to the curriculum. The next semester we will make it a compulsory subject,” he said. Prof. Intan added, the Ministry of Research and Technology has introduced several New Literacy in the face of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era, namely Data Literacy, Technology Literacy, and Human Literacy.
