It is a long standing awareness that UNJ should be part of the global academic institutions. It strives to be able to participate in fostering the relationship and cooperation between national and international universities, to work together, to exchange knowledge and promote understanding in the diversity of the world societies and cultures.
UNJ has appointed a technical services unit (UPT) called the Office of International Education (OIE) or the International Office which is directly responsible to the Rector. The unit is directed by the Head of IO who is currently assisted by a secretary and two administrative staffs.
International Office of UNJ functions in technical implementation and administration, to help smooth the learning activities, research and development of science and technology, and dedication to the community at the national and international level carried out by the entire academics of UNJ, including foreign nationals who are studying at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The task is to realise a variety of missions related to the campus internalisation efforts.
IO UNJ in particular assists international students in meeting their academic as well as non academic needs so that their study time will be convenient and effective. IO UNJ also organises the Academic Orientation Programme, which lasts for a week at the beginning of each academic year. It aims to introduce new students to UNJ academic life. The programme includes some briefings on UNJ facilities and services a s well as a tour around the campuses. The office is located at Rectorate Building in Campus A.
