Public Relations UNJ (24/03/2019) This Sunday morning, Students of Universitas Negeri Jakarta were officially declared graduated by the university in both academic and administrative manner. In the 109th semester, there were 73 graduates from the Diploma Program, 1249 graduates from Bachelor Programs, 22 graduates from the RPL Program, 269 graduates from Masters Programs, and 146 graduates from Doctoral Programs with a total of 1760 graduates. The 109th-semester graduation was held on Sunday, March 24, 2019, and took place at the D Hall of the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, North Jakarta. The ceremony was attended by the Rector of Philliphine Normal University, Dr. Ester B. Ogena, and Rahmat Edi Irawan as Head of NET TV Production Services Division who is also alumni of History Education Bachelor Program at the Teacher Training and Education Institute or IKIP Jakarta in 1994.

In this Graduation, the ad interim Rector of UNJ, Prof. Intan Ahmad, talked about the development of technology or the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The ad interim Rector of UNJ said that the development of artificial intelligence is increasing rapidly so the internet and artificial intelligence technology will soon replace many job positions. “There will be mass unemployment. On the other hand, there will also be many new jobs and opportunities. This is a challenge for the diploma, bachelor, master or doctoral graduates,” he continued. With “Challenges and Roles of the University and Graduates in Facing the Industrial Revolution 4.0” as the theme, he explained to UNJ graduates that they were no less competitive with graduates from other universities. However, UNJ graduates also had to understand technology. In another speech delivered by Rahmat Edi Irawan as the Head of the NET TV Production Service Division, he said something similar regarding the vast availability of jobs. “Work opportunity is not always in accordance with the concentration taken in the university. As long as the individual is competent in other fields, one will be able to make it one’s profession. The opportunity could come from outside one’s study program,” he stated. The speech was delivered in both Indonesian and English languages because there were 13 students of Physical Education Doctoral Program from Philippine Normal University also graduated from UNJ.

This 109th UNJ Semester Graduation is different from the usual graduation ceremony. Not only filled with scientific speeches from various speakers, but there was also a joint dance from the graduates on this ceremony. In addition, one of the graduates, Chicha Fiqri Rahman from the 2014 Music Education Study Program was the main singer in Hall D of JIEXPO after the inauguration by the ad interim Rector of UNJ. The graduates welcomed this particular segment of the ceremony with enthusiasm. Hopefully, this segment can be carried out at the upcoming graduations.
