Inauguration of Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana E.S., M.Bus.
Public Relations UNJ (19/6/2019) – Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) held an inaugural session of the Professor in the Field of Economic Education, Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana E.S., M.Bus., on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, in the Latief Hendraningrat Hall, Gedung Dewi Sartika, Campus A UNJ. Ad Interim Rector of UNJ, Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D., Vice-Rectors, Deans, and Lecturers attended the inaugural session of the Professor, as well as several honorary guests, including Dean of Faculty of Economics UNES, Drs. Heriyanto, MBA., Ph.D., Head of Bank Indonesia DKI Jakarta Province Representative, Hamid Ponco Wibowo, and Ayu Dyah Pasha, Senior Indonesian Actress.
Ad Interim Rector of UNJ, Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D., officially opened and led the inaugural session for two hours. In the first session at 08.00 am, Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana E.S., M.Bus., delivered his scientific speech entitled “Character-Based Higher Education of Entrepreneurship in the Disrupted Era.” In his speech, Prof. Dedi explained that in Indonesia, Entrepreneurship Education in universities was introduced in the 1990s and considered as new. The number of universities in major cities that offer at least one class in entrepreneurship is increasing every year. Twenty universities have joined the Alliance of Indonesian Entrepreneurship Study Programs (API).
Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana E.S., M.Bus., holds a Doctorate degree in the Education Management Study Program of Universitas Negeri Jakarta in 2015. Since graduating from the Master of Business program at La Trobe University Australia, Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana E.S., M.Bus., focuses more on the study of entrepreneurship. This interest is based on his concerns about the lack of entrepreneurs in the country, which is only 0.18% of the total population of Indonesia. He has pursued a career as a civil servant lecturer at UNJ since 1993. Before becoming a Professor at the Faculty of Economics UNJ, Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana E.S., M.Bus., received the mandate of various structural positions like the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Economics UNJ (2009 – 2013), and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics until now. As an academic, he is very productive in producing scientific works in the form of both national and international journal articles. He currently has 19 scientific works. He is also active as a reviewer of the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) and academic studies at the Director General of Customs and Excises of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia since 2016. Not only as an academic, Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana E.S., M.Bus., was also good at writing ideas and turned it into books. Of the seven books published, four of them have received Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
At the end of his speech, Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana E.S., M.Bus., also expressed his gratitude to all parties involved, especially to both parents, Hj. Euis Djuariah and the late H. Adjib Rusmana, as well as great figures who have contributed to the development of his academic and managerial careers. On this occasion, he also encourages young lecturers of Universitas Negeri Jakarta to spur their adrenaline accompanied by prayer in an effort to achieve professorship.
