Public Relations of UNJ (8/27//2019) – Opening Ceremony of Law and Culture 2019 was held on Monday, 26th August 2019, at Syafei Building Fl. 8, Campus A Universitas Ngeri Jakarta (UNJ). The Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation Affairs, Dr. Achmad Ridwan, M.Si., and the Coordinators and Lecturers of three universities seemed to attend the occasion.

Dr. Achmad Ridwan was warmly welcoming the delegations of Leipzig University, Germany and Brawijaya University, Malang. “It is great to see so many enthusiastic delegations here, you are lucky to be here this year because we have some tremendous events planned for each day of the conference in Jakarta and Malang” Dr. Achmad Ridwan explained. He was hoping that this program would continue under annual agenda scheme and be able to leave the delegations an unforgettable impression particularly to those of Lepzig University.

This program is an outcome of agreement made at Joint Summer Course of 2011 and was previously named “Exploring Legal Culture” (2012 – 2016). Instead, it is now called “Law and Culture.” Unlike the previous one, this year’s program aims to improve a structural impact which relates to community in order to make it possible to apply. Therefore, it chooses a theme on “Law and Culture Change”.

Law and Culture Change is a program under cooperation of three universities namely Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Brawijaya University, Malang and Leipzig University, Germany. Participants eligible for this program are those to have passed a series of selections held by each university. There are respectively 5 students and 3 lecturers of UNJ and Brawijaya University, also 10 students and 4 lecturers of Leipzig University. The delegations participate in a sequence of activities in Jakarta for 4 days and in Malang, East Java for 6 days. The activities involve Seminar, Discussion Group Presentation, City Tour and Visit to other institutions.

Law and Culture program is also aimed at collaboratively designing and developing a module of interdisciplinary study. The program has persistently been held every year; therefore, it makes the forms and characteristics of legal system implemented in Indonesia and Germany become crucial in addition to arguments about legal perspectives and practices influenced by specific culture, roles of international regulations, and human rights.
