Sport Support Village has Launched by Faculty of Sport Sciences Universitas Negeri Jakarta

Public Relations UNJ (15/7/2019) – Faculty of Sport Sciences Universitas Negeri Jakarta launch Kampung Binaan Olahraga (Sports Support Village) program together with the DKI Jakarta Sports Activist at RPTRA (Child-friendly Integrated Public Spaces) Amir Hamzah on Saturday, July 13, 2019. The program was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Dr. Abdul Sukur, S.Pd., M.Si., and the Head of Department of Youth and Sports in Central Jakarta, Tedi Cahyono.

During the launch of Kampung Binaan Penggerak Olahraga, the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Dr. Abdul Sukur, S.Pd., M.Si., explained that this Kampung Binaan Penggerak Olahraga is not only for one specific village but for all urban villages in DKI Jakarta as an effort to make Jakarta residents interested in sports.

The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, UNJ, Drs. Mustara, M.Pd., initiated this Kampung Binaan Penggerak Olahraga in 2012. At that time he was preparing to become a London 2012 Olympic torchbearer. In 2018, DKI Jakarta Sports Office adopted the Kampung Binaan Penggerak Olahraga program, and in 2019 it was further developed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Initially, the concept of Kampung Binaan Penggerak Olahraga was “picking up the ball” or hands-on operation to the urban villages in DKI Jakarta. “This program is not fixed with a big ceremony. What important is the presence of UNJ students and sports activists who take the initiative to gather the community from both young and old circles,” explained Mustara.

DKI Jakarta Provincial Government chose to improve Kampung Binaan Olahraga program because it is in line with the DKI Jakarta Sports Office programs, like introduction, traditional sports, etc. DKI Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, also has a dedicated program called Festival Olahraga Rakyat Sepanjang Tahun, which considers sport to be a social interaction for the citizens of Jakarta.

UNJ has become the main partner of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government as a Sports Activator in all DKI Jakarta villages in 2019. The UNJ Sports Guidance team re-initiated the RPTRA program in city parks with sports facilities, such as basketball courts, volleyball, which can be used for coaching. The goal is that city parks in DKI Jakarta all have regular training at the sports arena.
