UNJ Pubic Relations (30/11/2018) Delegates from the Faculty of Social Sciences Universitas Negeri Jakarta had the chance to participate in Law and Culture 2018 in Leipzig, Germany. Three lecturers and five students were chosen to be the delegates in this program. Their names are: Heryanti Utami (lecturer and the coordinator of Tourism Business Services study program), Robertus Robert and Umar Baihakqi (Sociology study program lecturers), Adinda Fahriya (Pancasila and Civic Education student, 2015), Ika Farida Novyanthi (Pancasila and Civic Education student, 2014), Maulydita Nurassyifa (Public Relations student, 2016), Vania Melati (Islamic Studies student, 2016), dan Wulan Azahra (Geography Education student, 2016). This program is a collaboration between Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Brawijaya, and Universität Leipzig. Law, Punishment, and Re-socialization was the theme of the event, which was held on October 15-25th 2018.

This event was held to give an understanding of the academic culture of the two countries. In Leipzig, students and lecturers have been given the experience on how the Germans learn in classrooms, working groups, and workshops. They were also paid a visit to the Federal Administrative Court and Wachau prison in Leipzig. At the end of this program, there was a court simulation with a case that required the participants to analyze it first and then divide themselves into several roles. This simulation consisted of judges, lawyers, defenders, and expert witnesses. The case of this court simulation is Unconstitutional Law.

There were three workshops throughout the whole event, one of them was the Discourses on secularism and religiosity among young Moslem intellectuals in Indonesia by Professor Edith Franke, who talked about her research results during her time learning about Indonesian religiosity. In this occasion, one of UNJ’s lecturer, Robertus Robert was also a speaker who talked about Punishment, Re-socialization, and Disengagement of Terrorists in Indonesia. Seminar for lecturers, simulation games and its evolution; From the simulation to the model, From the model to the system, and From the system to the reality by David Jahr, P.hd were also part of the program.
