The High-Achieving Students (Mawapres) of UNJ was Held Again

UNJ  Public Relations 06/03/2019 The selection of High-Achieving Students (Mawapres) of Universitas Negeri Jakarta was held on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019. This event was held every year to find some high-achieving students from each faculty at Universitas Negeri Jakarta and to prepare students in becoming the agents of change so that they can be useful for society in the future.

Vice Rector of Students Affair, Prof. Dr. A. Sofyan Hanif, M.Pd, was there to officially open the event. Aam Amaningsih Jumhur, P.hD, Widya Parimita M.PA, and Dr. Phil Zharina Akbar, M.Psi. were also there as the judges at this event. The finalists began by presenting their Scientific Writing, and later followed by a Question and Answer session. Impromptu Speech to assess the abilities and knowledge of the finalists in answering questions raised by deans and lecturers was next. In this session, the finalists had to answer the questions in a short amount of time. There were also a screening of videos and presentations of inspirational stories by each finalist.

The finalists of Mawapres 2019, which consisted of 18 students, were representatives from the faculties who had gone through the faculty selection process. Their names are: Bima Dewanto, M. Ikrom Azzam, Swardiantara Silalahi, Indra Rizky Ramadhan, Melani, Linda Dwiyanti, Naima Alfitta Franedi, Wulan Azahra Khairunisa, Mufidi Mahmud, Retno Dwi Saputri, Cindy, Karil Maulita, Febrian Abdul Fatah, Noviana Misnannisah, Hanin Khalidah, Jannatul Firdausi Nuzula, Bijak Aditia Hutomo, and Muchamad Salamun.

After the selection process, 10 students were selected as the High-Achieving Students in several categories. Bimo Dewanto from the Indonesian Literature Study Program 2016, Faculty of Languages and Arts was chosen to be the High-Achieving Undergraduate Student 2019. Bimo said that the High-Achieving Students were not the result of competition but the mandate given by the campus to be a representation of UNJ students. “I hope that with this, literature and theater kids, who are considered to be lacking in good looks, can actually become the High-Achieving Students,” said Bimo. “Hopefully this can open the opportunity for all students at the university to participate as part of the High-Achieving Students because achievements can be obtained not only from academics field but also from non-academics,” he added.
