UNJ Celebrates Indonesia’s Independence Day 17th August 2019

Public Relations of UNJ (8/17/2019) – A flag ceremony on 17th August 2019 was held at 8 a.m. in the yard of UNJ Library, Campus A of UNJ, to commemorate Indonesia’s Independence Day. The ceremony was solemnly carried out and attended by the Vice Rectors, the Deans of the Faculties of UNJ, Lecturers, and all of the Society of Academicians of UNJ.

It has been for 74 years that Indonesia gained its Independence. The commemoration of 74th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in this 2019 is not only meant to be free from colonialism and the end of struggle, but it is also meant to get ourselves united. We are obliged to maintain and develop what the independence has achieved. Therefore, the independence is supposed to trigger us to do far better for the country of Indonesia. This 74th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in 2019 choose a theme of “Excellent Human Resources, Advanced Indonesia.” It means that the development of excellent human resources will remarkably promote the advancement of the country. Human resources development has been the key to future success of the nation. Indonesia’s human resources must be excellent in all sectors so that they are able to plunge into a global competition, particularly when entering industrial revolution 4.0. We realize that industrial revolution into which Indonesia has been undergoing may not be adequate if it only focuses on infrastructural sector. Indeed, it has to be supported with human resources quality improvement by also improving the quality of education to be in adjacent with the advancement of technology of industrial revolution 4.0.

In order to generate excellent human resources, higher educational institutions must play its role in front line to create competitive human resources in the future. One thing for sure is by always improving the quality of higher educational institutions human resources, as well as preparing ourselves to be adaptive for the sake of national development success. Don’t be too satisfied with achievement and competence we have gained and mastered and be indulged with our comfort zone. Excellent human resources in this era may seem to be manifested from resulted innovation and creativity. Higher educational institutions, research institutions and LPNK must cooperate, collaborate to be the locomotive of such innovation and creativity of the nation, to be the drive for developing and cultivating the innovation and creativity as well. A rule has been issued to support matters in light of innovation and creativity that is Laws on Science and Technology National System, in replace of Law Number 18 of 2002. This new law has led to a golden moment for improving the capacity of science and technology human resources, and for increasing the number of great masterpiece of invention and innovation.

Demographic bonus we have must be seriously optimized by again creating excellent Indonesia’s human resources. This bonus can be a golden opportunity if the quality of education is persistently improved. The role of higher educational institutions as an agent of change has been awaited by people of the country to respond and encounter existing challenges. Government should consistently provide facilities and supports in education and self-development for the talented young since it will contribute to Indonesia’s development acceleration. On this ceremony was also held the granting of Satya Lencana Karya Satya to Civil Servants of UNJ who have been in 10, 20, and 30 years of dedication with composition as follows: 32 awardees for 30-year dedication, 10 awardees for 20-year dedication, and 46 awardees for 10-year dedication.
